9/10/2011- A recap of what everything happened from August 30- Sept. 10 & What lies Ahead

Hey guys. Sorry I was gone for a while. Fall semester started and I got busy with school work, but here I am trying to recap everything that occurred from the time I was absent. Also I will promote what lies ahead in the coming days. Lets do it.

MLB
For the New York Yankees, they have defeated Boston 2 out of 3 during the days of August 30- Sept 1st. Although they lost in the middle of the series at Fenway, this was the 1st time the Bronx Bombers won a series against Boston in 2011 & secured their seats into 1st place in the AL East division. After the series at Fenway, they swept Toronto (which was also a 1st for the Yankees in 2011). However, their luck was short lived as their 4 game series against Baltimore was split and lost to Anaheim yesterday in the 1st half of their West Coast tour. According to YES Network personality Bob Lorenz, the Yankees need 12 wins to secure a postseason appearance.

On the other side of the city, the New York Mets have defeated the Florida Marlins 4 out of 5, Washington Nationals 2 out of 3, and once again the Marlins 2 out of 3. However, the bumps came in as the Mets lost to Atlanta in a Thursday doubleheader (make up game due to Hurricane Irene), and are currently tied with their series against the Cubs so far.

The Yankees will conclude their series against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim this weekend before heading off to face the Seattle Mariners in the 2nd half of the West Coast tour. The Mets will conclude their series against the Cubs tomorrow night on Sunday Night Baseball. Afterwards, they will face the Washington Nationals in a 4 game series during the week.

NFL
After a bittersweet ending for the Jets & Giants preseason, now is the focus of regular season. The 2011 NFL Season kicked off with a bang as the Green Bay Packers defeated the New Orleans Saints in a Super Bowl Champion vs Champion game. Here are the highlights:

Although both teams played until the very end, it was Green Bay who proved that they are the better team on that game.

Tomorrow, the New York Giants will be facing the Washington Redskins in what is considered by FOX "America's Game of the Week" due to being a late game (4:15). The New York Jets will host the Dallas Cowboys in a primetime game airing on NBC Sunday Night Football.

College Football
Once September kicked in, college football kicked into high gear. On week 1, Rutgers inaugurated the season by defeating North Carolina Central in a 48-0 blowout. Oklahoma would also defeat Tulsa in a score of 47-14. However, Notre Dame lost to South Florida 23-20. In week 2, Rutgers lost to North Carolina 22-24, Notre Dame lost to Michigan 35-31, & Kean University defeated Wesley College 31-28. Oklahoma had the week off but will play next week.

MMA
During the fall months, Saturdays are designated to be Saturday Night Fights as Bellator and other organizations such as Strikeforce and/or UFC are scheduled to have shows on Saturdays during the fall. Bellator has already kicked off their season 5 tournament but I will post those results on Monday. I will also post results for the Strikeforce event as well.

WWE
So to keep everything short, Randy Orton and Christian had a great cage match on WWE Super SmackDown which led to Orton retaining the title, CM Punk & Triple H feud has led to their match at Night of Champions a NO DQ match that if Triple H loses, he is forced to relinquish the role of COO, Kevin Nash has been future endeavored, and Sin Cara turns into a villain to set up a what could be a potential storyline between him & Daniel Bryan. Yep, that pretty much sums it all up in a nutshell.

Next week, SmackDown comes to Toronto, Canada and Edge will be making a special guest appearance on the show:

Wow, I need to blog more often. Taking hiatuses is too much. Have a good day tomorrow everyone!
