12/23/2011- 1st blog using Blogger mobile

Hello everyone! I hope everyone had a great week this week as many are finishing up last minute Christmas shopping. This blog, and the following will be typed via Blogger Mobile for Android. The reason why is that I'm currently out of town, and the place where I could get Wi-Fi is charging money. Thus, I'll be using my phone to blog, so bear with me if you don't see any videos for the next 2 blogs. Here we go!

NFL

This Saturday is the biggest game for New York football as the New York Jets host their stadium rival the New York Giants. Sure, both the Giants and the Jets share the same stadium, but this is considered a designated Jets home game. The hype has been going on with the media and both sides are going at each other, but only one shall prevail when it's game time.

That's all I have to say for now. I won't be mentioning wrestling until I get back from my out of town trip. Have a good Christmas weekend!!

12/19/2011- WWE TLC results, Redskins def NY Giants, Eagles def NY Jets, Strikeforce: Melendez vs Masvidal results, more

Hello everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend! This weekend was the weekend of a lot of newsworthy moments such as Green Bay Packers getting their 1st loss, Indianapolis Colts getting their 1st victory of the season, Redskins sweep the series against the NY Giants, Eagles blowing out the NY Jets, Zack Ryder winning the United States Championship, and last but not least Daniel Bryan winning the World Heavyweight Championship. Here are all of the highlights that occurred over the weekend.

WWE
This past Monday on Raw was the Slammy Awards. Here are all of the highlights from the Slammy Awards:

Here is a recap of WWE Week in 90 Seconds:

Also, last night was the WWE TLC PPV. I didn't get to see the PPV, but I heard about what happened. Here are the results:
  • Zack Ryder def Dolph Ziggler to become the NEW United States Champion
  • Air Boom def Primo & Epico to retain the WWE Tag Team Championship
  • Randy Orton def Wade Barrett in a Tables Match
  • Beth Phoenix def Kelly Kelly to retain the Divas Championship
  • Triple H def Kevin Nash in a "Sledgehammer" Ladder Match
  • Sheamus def Jack Swagger
  • Big Show def Mark Henry in a Chairs Match to become the NEW World Heavyweight Champion
But wait, Daniel Bryan cashes in his SmackDown Money in the Bank briefcase and thus:
  • Daniel Bryan def Big Show to become the NEW World Heavyweight Champion
  • Cody Rhodes def Booker T to retain the Intercontinental Championship
  • CM Punk def The Miz and Alberto Del Rio in a triple threat Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match to retain the WWE Championship

ROH
As you all have heard, ROH Final Battle 2011 will be one week from today. Here is a ROH Video Wire from today to hype the iPPV:

Strikeforce
This past Saturday was Strikeforce: Melendez vs Masvidal. Overall, there were 9 fights on the card, but only 4 were televised on Showtime. Here are the results from the main card:
  • KJ Noons def Billy Evangelista via unanimous decision
  • Gegard Mousasi def Ovince St Preux via unanimous decision
  • Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos def Hiroko Yamanaka via TKO at Round 1 to retain the Strikeforce Women's Featherweight Championship
  • Gilbert Melendez def Jorge Masvidal via unanimous decision to retain the Strikeforce Lightweight Championship
NFL
Yesterday was a day of shock in the NFL as both the New York teams lost. Earlier, the NY Giants hosted the Washington Redskins in what would be an attempt to avoid a Washington sweep. However, the attempt was unsuccessful as the game was one sided with Washington in favor. Here are the highlights:

Later that day, the NY Jets played against the Philadelphia Eagles in a big blowout. Here are the highlights from that game:

Not only did both of these teams lost, the Jets and the Giants will play against each other this Saturday. Neither team has any momentum so expect the fans at Metlife Stadium to feel disgruntled.

That's all I have to say for now! Have a good Christmas!

11/28/2011- Bellator 59 Results, NY Jets def Buffalo, preview of WWE Raw, more

Hello everyone! I hope all of you had a great Thanksgiving weekend. I can't believe November is almost over and the Christmas season is just around the corner. Here are all the highlights that took place over the weekend.

NFL
After a 2 game losing streak for the New York Jets, the Jets made a successful attempt to snap the losing streak by beating the Buffalo Bills in the last few minutes of the 4th quarter. The game was very close as both teams went back and forth in touchdowns. At the end of the game, the Jets prevailed. The best part of the game was Marv Albert calling the game, and the one thing I don't get was the sports media saying the Jets didn't deserve to win. Now I know it was an ugly game, but the Jets will take a nasty win for this time. Gang Green isn't out of the woods just yet as they have to face the Redskins, Chiefs, Eagles, Giants on Christmas Eve, and the Dolphins to conclude the season.

The New York Giants will be playing tonight on Monday Night Football as they face the New Orleans Saints in the Superdome. I will give those results on Friday.

Bellator
Bellator 59 aired on MTV 2 as it was the last fight of 2011 and Season 5. However it wasn't met without controversy as the last fight of the season ended in a controversial fashion. Here are the results:
  •  Marcin Held def Phillipe Nover via split decision
  • Eduardo Dantas def Alexis Vila via unanimous decision to win the Season 5 Bantamweight Tournament
  • Patricky "Pitbull" Freire def Kurt Pellegrino via TKO at Round 1
  • Eric Prindle vs Thiago Santos went to a No-Contest as Santos kicked Prindle in the groin during Round 1and Prindle was unable to continue.

I was surprised that the last fight of Season 5 ended up being a no-contest and the Heavyweight Tournament had no winner. I hope Bellator resolves this issue ASAP.

College Football
Over the weekend in College Football, the Oklahoma Sooners defeated Iowa State 26-6, Notre Dame fell to Stanford 28-14 in their last game of the season, Rutgers fell to Connecticut 40-22 in their last game of the season, and last but not least Kean University lost the NCAA Tournament to Salisbury University 49-47.

WWE
Last Friday on SmackDown was an out of the ordinary episode since WWE teased a MiTB cashing in and had Daniel Bryan win the World Heavyweight Championship for 2 minutes. Although SmackDown GM Theodore Long nullified this decision (thus Daniel Bryan is still MiTB briefcase holder), he gave Daniel Bryan a slot in a Fatal 4-Way match to face Mark Henry in a steel cage match on a special live edition on SmackDown. At the end of the night, Daniel Bryan won that match, and will face Mark Henry this Tuesday in a live SmackDown hosted by Mick Foley.

Here's a recap of what happened last week on WWE TV

This Monday on Raw will have a WWE Championship rematch between CM Punk and Alberto Del Rio. Also, Roddy Piper will host "Piper's Pit" and John Cena is the guest of the segment.

That's all I have to say for now. Have a good week!

11/25/2011- UFC 139 results, Bellator 58 results, NFL Recap, more

Happy Black Friday everyone! I hope all of you enjoyed your Thanksgiving Day! And don't worry, I didn't end the sports blog, just got caught up in a lot of school work and I never had the time to write a blog these past 2 weeks. Here's the info on what happened last weekend, yesterday on Thanksgiving, and a preview of what will happen this weekend. Let's do this!

NFL
After a loss to the Patriots, the NY Jets attempted to rebound last Thursday with a win over Denver Broncos. However, it was unsuccessful as Tim Tebow of the Broncos ran for a touchdown. Here are the highlights from that game:

Few days later on Sunday Night Football, the Giants also attempted to rebound from a 49ers road loss. It was unsuccessful, as the Giants lost to the Eagles at home 17-10.

Fast forward to the Thanksgiving Day games, the Lions hosted the undefeated Packers, Cowboys hosted the Dolphins, and the Ravens hosted the 49ers in a prime time game on the NFL Network. The Lions, who were looking to end the Packers undefeated streak failed to do so as the Packers got the better end of the Lions. Here are the highlights:

Later that day, Dallas Cowboys hosted the Miami Dolphins. Dallas dominated most of the game, but Miami attempted to make a comeback. Although Miami had a short lead in the 4th quarter, it proved to backfire them as Dallas made a field goal winning kick. Here are the highlights:

In the prime time portion of the Thanksgiving Day games, the Baltimore Ravens upset the heavily favored San Francisco 49ers with a victory of 16-6.

This weekend, the New York Jets will host the Buffalo Bills, and the following night on Monday Night Football, the New York Giants will face the New Orleans Saints in the Superdome. With that being said, are the Jets and Giants eliminated from playoffs contender ship?
UFC
UFC 139 took place last Saturday night in the HP Pavillion in San Jose, CA. Overall, there were 12 fights on the card. 5 were streamed on Facebook, 2 aired on Spike TV, while the rest aired on PPV. Here are the results:
Facebook
  • Danny Castillo def Shamar Bailey via TKO at Round 1*
  • Seth Baczynski def Matt Brown via submission at Round 2*
  • Miguel Torres def Nick Pace via unanimous decision
  • Gleison Tibau def Rafael dos Anjos via split decision
  • Chris Weidman def Tom Lawlor via technical submission at Round 1*
Spike
  • Michael McDonald def Alex Soto via KO at Round 1
  • Ryan Bader def Jason Brilz via KO at Round 1
PPV
  • Stephan Bonnar def Kyle Kingsbury via unanimous decision
  • Martin Kampmann def Rick Story via unanimous decision
  • Urijah Faber def Brian Bowles via submission at Round 2
  • Wanderlei Silva def Cung Le via TKO at Round 2
  • Dan Henderson def Mauricio "Shogun" Rua via unanimous decision
*- this also aired on Spike

Bellator
Bellator 58 took place the same night as UFC 139, but this was televised on MTV 2. Here are the results of the main card:
  • Marlon Sandro def Rafael Dias via submission at Round 1
  • Jessica Aguilar def Lisa Ellis-Ward via unanimous decision
  • Hector Lombard def Trevor Prangley via TKO at Round 2
  • Michael Chandler def Eddie Alvarez via submission in Round 4 to become the NEW Bellator Lightweight Champion
Here are the highlights from Bellator 58:

Also, due to the fight between Michael Chandler and Eddie Alvarez being the Bellator Fight of the Year, the full fight has been posted online.

Bellator 59 will take place this Saturday night as the season finale of Season 5.

WWE
This past Sunday was the 25th Anniversary of Survivor Series. The main event was a tag team match consisting of The Rock & John Cena vs The Miz and R-Truth. Here are the results:
  • Dolph Ziggler def John Morrison to retain the United States Championship
  • Beth Phoenix def Eve to retain the Divas Championship
  • Team Barrett def Team Orton in a Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match (Wade Barrett and Cody Rhodes were the sole survivors. The elimination order consists of Dolph Ziggler eliminated by Orton, Sin Cara eliminated by injury, Mason Ryan eliminated by Cody Rhodes, Kofi Kingston eliminated by Wade Barrett, Sheamus eliminated by DQ, Jack Swagger eliminated by Orton, Hunico eliminated by Orton, and Randy Orton eliminated by Wade Barrett.)
  • CM Punk def Alberto Del Rio to win the WWE Championship
  • The Rock & John Cena def The Miz and R-Truth
Overall, it was a good PPV. Better PPV I ordered compared to WrestleMania 27. The opening match wasn't that special since Morrison is leaving the WWE, but it was nice that Long Island native Zack Ryder made an appearance after the match. Divas match was a miss, but the rest of the card was a sleeper hit. The two people that stole the show were CM Punk and The Rock, respectively. CM Punk, who no one expected to win the WWE title won via Anaconda Vise to Del Rio. The best part about it was Howard Finkel was the guest ring announcer for that match. The Rock stole the show since it was his 1st time in the ring since 2004 (ironically his 1st match, last match as a full time wrestler, and his return match took place in MSG). No one thought that The Rock would become a technician in the match, but I'm glad to see that he wrestled like he was 29 years old. The last veteran to surprise me was Ricky Steamboat. After the match, The Rock gave John Cena the Rock Bottom to which the crowd responded with a enormous pop.

Unfortunately, the following night on Raw wasn't that special since it was a hangover show from the PPV, but it did set the tone for a future Booker T/ Cody Rhodes feud. Also, the team of Awesome Truth broke up as The Miz attacked R-Truth on the titan tron stage. This was done to write R-Truth off the story lines as he got a 30-day suspension for a Wellness Policy violation. Another write off in story lines is Sin Cara since Cara suffered a ruptured patella and will be out for 6-9 months, therefore a Mysterio/Cara match off the cards for the time being.

Here are the highlights from Survivor Series:

That's all I have to say for now. Have a good weekend!

11/4/2011- Mayweather vs Pacquiao scheduled for 5/5/2012, NY Jets def Buffalo, NY Giants def Patriots, UFC 138 results, WWE Week in 90 Seconds, more

Hello everyone! I hope everyone had a good weekend as there were a lot of upset victories in football. Here are the highlights of what happened over the weekend.
Boxing
After many years, ESPN announced that Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao will fight on May 5, 2012. For those who are confused as to why this is a big deal, here is why. After the glory days of where the legends such as Muhammed Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard, Mike Tyson, Oscar De La Hoya, George Foreman graced their presence in the ring, boxing went into a steep decline. The decline is mostly due to MMA going on the rise, mainly due to UFC reforming their rules in the early 2000s. Since the period of decline, there have only been a few famous fighters, notably the two I mentioned above.  Keep in mind that neither of the two boxers have signed the dotted line to make it official, so when it happens, I will let you know.

NFL
Yesterday was a day of upset victories as the New York Jets defeated the heavily favored Buffalo Bills, and the New York Giants defeated the extremely favored New England Patriots in a Super Bowl rematch. In the early game, after a scoreless 1st quarter, the Jets managed to make a field goal in the 2nd quarter, and the rest was history written by the Jets. Here are the highlights:

Later on, once the Jets/Bills game concluded, the Giants faced the Patriots in Foxborough in a Super Bowl rematch 4 years in the making (that is, if you don't include the preseason). Neither team scored in the 1st half, but things began to pick up as the Giants started to score. Patriots attempted a comeback, but in the end the Giants made a bigger comeback and what I would call "The Miracle at Foxborough". Here are the highlights:

Due to the Giants victory, the AFC East is a now a 3-way tie for 1st place between the Jets, Bills, and Patriots.

WWE
Here are the highlights that occurred last week in WWE Television:

This week, WWE will be in the UK as they are on a European Tour, and will tape episodes of Raw and SmackDown for the week.

UFC
UFC 138 took place last Saturday night, and featured the main event between Chris Leben vs Mark Munoz. Overall, there were 10 fights on the card. 5 were streamed live on Facebook, while the other 5 aired on Spike via tape delay since this event took place in the UK. Here are the results:

Facebook
  • Chris Cariaso def Vaughan Lee via split decision
  • Che Mills def Chris Cope via TKO at Round 1*
  • Michihiro Omigawa def Jason Young via unanimous decision
  • Philip De Fries def Rob Broughton via unanimous decision
  • John Maguire def Justin Edwards via uanimous decision*
Spike
  • Terry Etim def Eddie Faaloloto via submission at Round 1
  • Anthony Perosh def Cyrille Diabate via submission at Round 2
  • Thiago Alves def Papy Abedi via submission at Round 1
  • Renan Barao def Brad Pickett via submission at Round 1
  • Mark Munoz def Chris Leben via TKO at Round 2
College Football
Last Saturday in College Football, Oklahoma Sooners def Texas A&M 41-25, Rutgers def South Florida 20-17 at the OT, Notre Dame def Wake Forest 24-17, and last but not least LSU def Alabama 9-6 at the OT to remain undefeated. The latter game that I mentioned was considered to be the College Football Game of the Week. Here are the highlights of LSU/Alabama:

That's all I have to say for now! Have a good week!

10/31/2011- UFC 137 Results, Bellator 56 Results, NY Giants def. Miami, preview of WWE Raw, more

Hello everyone! Happy Halloween! I hope you all had a great weekend, or a decent one for those who were affected by the snow in the northeast on Saturday. It was definitely a shocking moment over the weekend since the last time my area had snow was in 2008, but the difference was that the snow sticked to the ground. Anyways, here is what happened over the weekend, and what's in store for the week.

UFC
UFC 137 took place on Saturday night and emanated from Las Vegas. Overall, there were 11 fights on the card. 4 were streamed on Facebook, 2 aired on Spike, while the remainder aired on PPV. Here are the results:
Facebook
  • Clifford Starks def Dustin Jacoby via unanimous decision
  • Francis Carmont def Chris Camozzi via unanimous decision
  • Ramsey Nijem def Danny Downes via unanimous decision
  • Brandon Vera def Eliot Marshall via unanimous decision*
Spike
  • Bart Palaszewski def Tyson Griffin via KO at Round 1
  • Donald Cerrone def Dennis Silver via submission at Round 1**
PPV
  • Hatsu Hioki def George Roop via split decision
  • Scott Jorgensen def Jeff Curran via unanimous decision
  • Roy Nelson def Mirko Filipovic via TKO at Round 3
  • Cheick Kongo def Matt Mitrione via unanimous decision
  • Nick Diaz def BJ Penn via unanimous decision
*= this also aired on Spike
**= this also aired on PPV

After the PPV, Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic and BJ Penn announced their retirement from the UFC. Also, after a controversial remark that Nick Diaz made about GSP, GSP felt disrespected and asked to have a fight against Diaz on Super Bowl Weekend in 2012.

Bellator
Bellator 56 was also aired in the same night as UFC 137. However, it was on MTV 2 instead of PPV. Here are the results from Bellator 56:
  • Eric Prindle def Ron Sparks via KO in Round 1 to advance to the Heavyweight Finals
  • Jeremy Spoon def. Adam Schindler via unanimous decision*
  • Thiago Santos def Neil Grove via submission in Round 1 to advance to the Heavyweight Finals
  • Ben Askren def Jay Hieron via split decision to retain the Bellator Welterweight Championship
Here are the highlights:

NFL
The New York Giants were the only New York team to play this week as the New York Jets had a bye week. Yesterday was a  game against the Jets fierce rival Miami Dolphins. After Miami dominated the 1st half of the game, the Giants made a comeback and got a win 20-17 to "put it in the books".

College Football
Last Saturday was a big day in college football as West Virginia def Rutgers 41-31, Notre Dame blew out the Navy 56-14, Oklahoma blew out Kansas State 58-17, and last but not least Kean University def Rowan University 13-6.

WWE
This Monday on Raw, the Muppets are guest starring to promote their movie, "The Muppets". Also, The Rock will respond to John Cena for Survivor Series, and Jim Ross will accept the Michael Cole Challenge to face Michael Cole with the announcer's job on the line.

That's all I have to say for now. Have a good week!

10/29/2011-St. Louis Cardinals win World Series!, MMA Saturday Night Fights, WWE Week in 90 Seconds, more

Hello everyone! I hope everyone had a great week so far! Here's a preview of what occurred over the week, and what will happen over the weekend.

MLB
As the title mentioned above, the St. Louis Cardinals won the World Series in a decisive Game 7 against the Texas Rangers. Congratulations to St. Louis on that World Series victory. Here are the highlights:

This will be the final time I will be talking about MLB in the year of 2011. You won't hear anything about baseball until Spring Training for the Yankees and the Mets.

WWE
This week on Raw and SmackDown was the fallout from the Vengeance PPV. Raw started with Triple H calling out Kevin Nash. It didn't end well for "The Game" as he was attacked by Nash with a sledgehammer in hand, and was taken out via stretcher. Other story lines included were CM Punk potential WWE Championship match against Alberto Del Rio, John Cena choosing The Rock as a tag-team partner against Awesome Truth for Survivor Series, and an open challenge from Michael Cole to have a match against Jim Ross for next week's Raw. Later that week on SmackDown, CM Punk made an appearance to face off against Christian in what was a good match. Here's a video highlights on what occured over the week:

MMA
Tonight, there will be 2 MMA Events as UFC 137 will be airing on PPV from Las Vegas, and Bellator 56 will be airing on MTV 2. As you all may know, Bellator Fighting Championships is now a part of Viacom and will be airing on Spike in 2013. The reason why 2013, and not next year is mainly due to a no-compete clause that Spike signed with UFC as UFC is transitioning from Spike to Fox Sports, and wants to honor that commitment. I respect the decision that Spike is making since after the WWE left Spike in 2005, the UFC kept Spike TV on the map. Going back to the events, the main event of UFC 137 is Nick Diaz vs BJ Penn, and Bellator 56 is the heavyweight finals and a welterweight title fight. Results will be given on Monday.

College Football
Today on College Football, Oklahoma will face Kansas State, Rutgers will host West Virginia, and Notre Dame will host the Navy. All of these games have started, and the results will be shared on Monday. Also, the game between Rowan and Kean is currently in progress with the score of 7-6. More will be said on Monday.

NFL
After the days of College Football, tune in tomorrow to see the New York Giants host the Miami Dolphins. The Jets are off this week as they are on bye.

Monday, October 24, 2011

10/24/2011- NY Jets def. San Diego, MLB World Series, Sooners get 1st loss of the season, Bellator 55 results, more

Hello everyone! I apologize for my absence since I had a cold last Monday and was resting up the entire week. I am currently feeling a lot better compared to last week. Instead of recapping what happened while I was away, I will only recap stuff that occurred over the weekend. That way, it will save up time on typing.
MLB
The World Series began on October 19th as the Texas Rangers face the St. Louis Cardinals in a best of 4 out of 7 games. Currently the series is tied 2-2 as the Cardinals won Games 1 and 3, while the Rangers won Games 2 and 4. Here is the rest of the schedule:
  • Game 5: 10/24 Cardinals @ Rangers 8:05 PM
  • Game 6: 10/26 Rangers @ Cardinals 8:05 PM
  • Game 7: 10/27 Rangers @ Cardinals 8:05 PM*
*- if necessary
All games are scheduled to air on FOX and ESPN Radio

NFL
Yesterday, the New York Jets hosted the San Diego Chargers in an afternoon game on CBS. It was the only New York football game on television since the Giants were on bye this week. This was considered to be the toughest game the Jets faced as the Chargers dominated most of the game. However, the Jets made a comeback and led to a 27-21 victory. Although we should give credit where credit is due since had it not been for defense playing really well, Plaxico Burress' 3 catches for TDs, and a field goal in the last few minutes of the 4th quarter, the Jets would have lost. Here are the highlights:

College Football
This past weekend was filled with shockers as Rutgers got their 2nd loss to Louisville Cardinals 16-14, Notre Dame lost to USC 31-17, and the Oklahoma Sooners got their 1st loss of the season to Texas Tech 41-38. The good news is that Kean University won their Homecoming Game against Morrisville State College 26-13.

Bellator
Bellator 55 took place on Saturday night and was emanated from Yuma, AZ. Here are the results from the main card:
  • Ricardo Triloni def Steve Gable via submission in Round 2
  • Travis Wiuff def Christian M' Pumbu via unanimous decision in a non-title bout
  • Eduardo Dantas def Ed West via split decision to advance to Bantamweight Finals
  • Alexis Vila def Marcos Galvao via split decision to advance to Bantamweight Finals
Here are the highlights:

UFC
As many of you already heard, UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre is out with a knee injury and therefore won't be able to defend his title against Carlos Condit on October 29th. UFC promoter Dana White announced that the new main event of UFC 137 will be BJ Penn vs Nick Diaz to take place instead of St. Pierre vs Condit. More info about UFC 137 will be announced.

WWE
Last week, WWE was in Mexico City for the tapings of Raw and SmackDown. Here is a recap of what took place last week in WWE:

Last night, the Vengeance PPV took place. Even though I didn't see this PPV, I heard that during the World Heavyweight Title Match, Mark Henry superplexed the Big Show and the ring broke. Here are the results from the Vengeance PPV:
  • Air Boom (Evan Bourne and Kofi Kingston) def. Jack Swagger and Dolph Ziggler to retain the WWE Tag Team Championship
  • Dolph Ziggler def. Zack Ryder to retain the United States Championship
  • Beth Phoenix def Eve Torres to retain the Divas Championship
  • Sheamus def Christian
  • The Miz and R-Truth def Triple H and CM Punk
  • Randy Orton def Cody Rhodes in a non-title match
  • Big Show vs Mark Henry went to a No-Contest (as mentioned above)
  • Alberto Del Rio def John Cena to retain the WWE Championship in a Last Man Standing Match
The next WWE PPV will be Survivor Series, and will feature The Rock making his return match.

 More info to be announced.

That's all I have to say for now. Have a good week.

10/14/2011- MLB Postseason, WWE Raw disappointing this week, review of 10/8/2011, preview of Bellator 54, more

Hello everyone! I hope everyone has had a great week. The main highlight of this blog is the disappointment episode of WWE Monday Night Raw. There have been bad episodes in the past, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. However, this was completely ridiculous. Here's my take.

WWE
This past Monday on Raw was the episode where the 55 WWE talents walked out on WWE COO Triple H. It started with ring announcers, commentary team, and the locker room absent. Triple H showed up and said that Raw will continue despite the "walk out". John Cena, Sheamus, and CM Punk showed up and said that they will continue to work so the 1st match was John Cena vs Sheamus with Triple H as referee and CM Punk on commentary. I thought this was a little innovative, and very original. Of course, this was short lived as WWE Chairman Vince McMahon showed up and told Triple H that he no longer has booking power over Raw and that a "Interim" GM would take control. The Raw GM turned out to be John Laurinitis. Afterwards, Raw went back to status quo, and the one thing that made me shut off the television was when Laurinitis fired Jim Ross from commentary because he "simply didn't like him". WWE should know that Jim Ross=ratings. No Jim Ross= ratings go down (albeit with a few exceptions). After that, I didn't bother watching the rest of Raw.

My rant on the WWE is finished for now. It's time to shift gears to the positives.

ROH
This past episode of Ring of Honor Wrestling had the main event of ROH World Champion Davey Richards vs Roderick Strong for the ROH World Title. It was another great episode that ROH is producing as of recent. Overall, the opening match between Tomasso Ciampa (pronounced cham-pa) and Andy Ridge and the main event said above was really good. At the end, Richards retained his title via submission. Here's a preview of the next episode:

Also posted is a recent ROH Video Wire to keep everyone in the loop:

MMA
Tonight, M-1 Challenge 27 will take place from Phoenix, AZ and will air on Showtime. The main event of the card is Kenny Garner vs Maxim Grishin. The following night, Bellator 54 will emanate from Atlantic City, NJ and features Bellator Bantamweight Champion Zach Makovsky fighting in a non-title bout and the semifinals of the Middleweight Tournament.

MLB
In the latest series on the Road to World Series, the ALDS is currently on the wire as Texas leads 3-2, and NLCS is tied between Brewers and Cardinals. NLCS Game 5 will take place tonight at 8 PM, while Game 6 of the ALCS will take place tomorrow night.

College Football
This weekend in College Football, Oklahoma will face Kansas in a primetime game scheduled at 9:30 PM on ESPN 2. Also, Rutgers will face against Navy which will air on ESPN 3 in select areas, and last but not least,  Kean will head to Brockport to face against The College of Brockport.

NFL
This week, the New York Giants will be coming home to CBS to host the Buffalo Bills in a Super Bowl rematch. If you read "coming home to CBS", this is no error as you read it correct. Believe it or not, CBS was the home of the NFC Conference for several years before losing rights to FOX Sports. Giants games used to air on CBS, so this is a return home to it's original network. Here's proof that NFC was on CBS:

The following night, the New York Jets will host the Miami Dolphins on ESPN Monday Night Football.

That is all I have to say for now. Have a good weekend!

10/10/2011- MLB Postseason, UFC 136 results, Bellator 53 results, Seattle def NY Giants, Patriots def NY Jets, Oklahoma def Texas, more

Hello everyone. I hope everyone has had a great weekend. This weekend was a depressing weekend for New York sports fans as the Giants fell to Seattle in the last few minutes of the game at home, while the Jets had their 3rd straight loss overall. Here are all the info that occurred over the weekend.

MLB
The Division Series has now concluded, and the teams that were eliminated were the New York Yankees, Tampa Bay Rays, Philadelphia Phillies, and the Arizona Diamondbacks. The final four remaining in the postseason are Detroit vs Texas and Milwaukee vs St. Louis. The ALCS began on Saturday Night with Detroit heading to Texas in a losing effort, giving Rangers a 1 game lead. One note was former Red Sox manager Terry Francona filled in for an absent Tim McCarver on commentary. A 2nd game of the ALCS was set to occur, but was postponed to today. In the NLCS picture, the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the St. Louis Cardinals in the 1st game, giving them the 1 game lead. Here is the rest of the schedule:

NLCS
  • Game 2: Cardinals @ Brewers 10/10 8:05 PM
  • Game 3: Brewers @ Cardinals 10/12 8:05 PM
  • Game 4: Brewers @ Cardinals 10/13 8:05 PM
  • Game 5: Brewers @ Cardinals 10/14 8:05 PM*
  • Game 6: Cardinals @ Brewers 10/16 4:05 PM*
  • Game 7: Cardinals @ Brewers 10/17 8:05 PM*

NFL
Yesterday was a depressing day for both Giants and Jets fans as the two teams lost. The Giants fell to the Seahawks in the last few minutes of the game due to Seattle intercepting a ball from Eli Manning. Here are the highlights from the Giants game:

Later in the day, the Jets faced the New England Patriots in a losing effort. However, one notable thing was the Jets offense slightly improved compared to last week, but it still failed against the Patriots.

College Football
This weekend was a historic weekend in College Football as Oklahoma blew out the Texas Longhorns in 55-17 at the Cotton Bowl Classic, Rutgers got an upset victory against Pittsburgh 34-10, Notre Dame def Air Force 59-33, and Kean def Buffalo State 34-27.

UFC
UFC 136 is now in the books as the longest PPV event of UFC history Overall, there were 11 fights on the card. 4 were streamed on Facebook, 2 were televised on Spike, while the rest aired on PPV. Here are the results from the event:

WWE
Here is a recap of what happened last week on WWE programming.

This Monday on Raw, WWE has advertised that the "Big 5" consisting of John Cena, CM Punk, Randy Orton, Sheamus, and The Big Show will appear on Raw. The rest of the WWE employees that "walked out" on WWE COO Triple H will protest.

That's all I have to say for now. Have a good week everyone!

10/7/2011- MLB Postseason, review of WWE Raw, review of 10/1/2011 ROH Wrestling, MMA Saturday Night Fights, more

Hello everyone. As you may know, New York baseball has come to an end as the Yankees lost the ALDS. Thank god its still football season, and of course professional wrestling and mixed martial arts has no off season so I can still have something to be happy about. However, I will still cover MLB Postseason on the blog, but won't be emotionally invested until the 2012 MLB Season. Here we go.

MLB
After a rough game on Monday night where the Yankees were facing elimination on Tuesday, AJ Burnett turned things around when he pitched a really good game in which the Yankees won 10-1 against Detroit at Comerica Park. This would force a Game 5 to occur last night at Yankee Stadium. Despite a home field advantage, everything went downhill for the Bombers as a lot of hitters had a bad day and Ivan Nova started despite being hurt and gave up 2 home runs. The only highlight was Robinson Cano hitting a home run to avoid a shut out. Final score was 3-2 Detroit and the Tigers will face the Texas Rangers in the 2011 ALCS.

I will give information about the NLCS on Monday since... wait a minute. I just found out from ESPN Radio that the Milwaukee Brewers won the NLDS defeating the Diamondbacks in the bottom of the 10th inning at Miller Park!!! Okay then, Brewers will face the winner of Phillies/Cardinals, which is still in progress.

NFL
This Sunday, the New York Giants will host the Seattle Seahawks in a 1 PM game on FOX, while the New York Jets will head to Boston to face the New England Patriots in a 4:15 PM game on CBS. For the Giants game, Thom Brennerman will be filling in for Joe Buck since Buck will be covering the ALCS.

College Football
This weekend, the Oklahoma Sooners will face their fiercest rival Texas Longhorns at the Cotton Bowl in what is dubbed as the "Cotton Bowl Classic". Notre Dame will host Air Force in a mid-afternoon game, Rutgers will host Pittsburgh in that same time slot as Notre Dame, and Kean University will host Buffalo State College. Unlike the latter 3, Oklahoma-Texas will be in a neutral zone.

MMA
This Saturday is MMA Saturday Night Fights as UFC will host a PPV called UFC 136 in which two titles are on the line. Jose Aldo will defend his Featherweight Championship against Kenny Florian and Frankie Edgar will defend his Lightweight Championship against Gray Maynard. Another event that will compete against UFC 136 is Bellator 53 in which the main event is the Featherweight Tournament Semifinals.

WWE
This past Monday on Raw, the storyline of WWE COO Triple H losing control of Raw has now escalated to the point of where a majority of WWE employees have voted no-confidence and that Triple H is not fit to run the WWE. One moment was when Jerry Lawler walked out on Triple H, following the WWE employees that were present, Michael Cole, Booker T, RAW ring announcer Justin Roberts, and eventually Jim Ross. The only support Triple H has is the WWE Universe. Here is the highlight of that segment:

Keep in mind, the wrestlers that were absent were John Cena, CM Punk, Randy Orton, Sheamus, Eve Torres, Kelly Kelly, Justin Gabriel, and the rest who were already inactive due to injury. The notable ones would most likely be considered the sympathizers to Triple H.

ROH
Ring of Honor Wrestling never disappoints as the second week of ROH TV aired on Saturday in select markets, and the main event was El Generico vs Jay Lethal for the ROH TV Title. The opening match was really good between Mike Bennett and Jimmy Jacobs and the original outcome of the main event was a time limit draw. However, Jim Cornette order 3 more minutes to declare an actual winner in which Lethal pinned Generico to win the ROH World Television Championship. Here's a preview of the next episode:

That's all I have to say for now. Have a good weekend!

10/4/2011- MLB Postseason, Bellator 52 results, UFC on Versus 6 results, NY Giants def Arizona, Baltimore def NY Jets, more

Hey everyone. This is the 1st blog of October, and that means the weather has shifted from warm to cold and the leaves turn from green to red/yellow/brown. What remains the same is that football is still going on, and postseason baseball is currently in progress. Here are all the info that occured over the weekend.

MLB
The last day of September was the 1st day of MLB Postseason and the ALDS was underway. The early game had Rays shutting out the Rangers and the Yankees and Tigers tied at 1 run. The bad news was that a heavy downpour occured in the Bronx which lead to the Friday game being postponed to the following night in which they won with 9 runs. Robinson Cano's grand slam and Ivan Nova's pitching contributed to the victory. In the NLDS, the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 2 games in a row, while the Phillies are tied with the Cardinals 1-1. To sum it all up, the ALDS have their 2 series lead by both Detroit and Texas by 2-1, while the NLDS has Milwaukee leading the series 2-0 and Phillies/Cardinals tied. Here is the schedule for the upcoming games:

ALDS (Yankees/Tigers)
ALDS (Rays/Rangers)
NLDS (Phillies/Cardinals)
NLDS (Brewers/Diamondbacks)
*= if necessary
**= Will air on TNT
  • All games are in Eastern Time Zone and, with the exception of Game 3 between Milwaukee and Arizona, are scheduled to air on TBS.
NFL
2 days ago was a good week for the Giants and a bad week for the Jets as the Giants won a game twice in a row while the Jets lost twice in a row. Although the Giants were trailing against Arizona, they pulled off a victory in the end.

For the Jets, I knew it was going to be a loss as defeating the Ravens is slim to none. Unlike last time where they met, the Jets offense was humiliated by Ravens defense. Mark Sanchez lost control of the ball and threw an interception which costed the Jets a victory.

Congratulations on the Giants victory, but wake me up when the Jets get a victory as they have lost all momentum going to New England.

College Football
This weekend was a historic one for the Oklahoma Sooners as they defeated Ball State in a blowout of 62-6. I consider this the greatest game I never saw since it was a PPV game (and of course I was watching the ALDS). Here are the highlights from that game:

Another notable moment that occured was when Rutgers defeated Syracuse in 2 overtimes at the Carrier Dome. I saw a little bit of the game on SNY, but Syracuse was in the lead and I thought it was over for Rutgers. I was proven wrong, and the final score was 19-16. In other areas, Notre Dame achieved a victory against Purdue 38-10 and Kean got a victory against TCNJ 7-6.

Bellator
Bellator 52 took place on Saturday night and is now in the books for the Heavyweight Quarterfinals. Here are the results:
  • Ron Sparks def. Mark Holata via KO at Round 1
  • Eric Prindle def Abe Wagner via unanimous decision
  • Blagoi Ivanov def Zak Jensen via technical submission at Round 2
  • Mike Hayes def Neil Grove via split decision
Here are the highlights for the event:

UFC
UFC also had an event on Versus this past Saturday as the Bantamweight Championship was on the line. Here are the results:
  • Matt Wiman def Mac Danzig via unanimous decision
  • Anthony Johnson def Charlie Brenneman via TKO at Round 1
  • Stefan Struve def Pat Barry via submission at Round 2
  • Dominick Cruz def Demetrious Johnson via unanimous decision to retain the UFC Bantamweight Championship
WWE
This past Sunday was a pay per view called WWE Hell in A Cell in which 2 matches were Hell in a Cell matches. Here are the results:
  • Sheamus def Christian
  • Sin Cara (Good) def Sin Cara (Evil)
  • Air Boom (Evan Bourne & Kofi Kingston def Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger to retain the WWE Tag Team Championship
  • Mark Henry def Randy Orton in Hell in a Cell to retain the World Heavyweight Championship
  • Cody Rhodes def John Morrison to retain the Intercontinental Championship
  • Beth Phoenix def Kelly Kelly to become the NEW Divas Champion
  • Alberto Del Rio def John Cena and CM Punk in a triple threat Hell in a Cell to become the NEW WWE Champion
Although I didn't see the PPV, I heard that Jim Ross was at the broadcast booth filling in for Jerry Lawler. I will give the review of Raw on Friday.

Have a good week.

9/30/2011- MLB Postseason Coverage, review of WWE Raw, review of ROH 9/24/11 episode, MMA Saturday Night Fights, more

Hello everyone. This is the last blog of September as tomorrow is October 1st. Which means that fall has been kicked into full throttle. MLB has ended their regular season and has now started postseason work. Here are all the info on the last few days of regular season and postseason, along with other stuff.

MLB
After a weekend of rivalries ending in the regular season for both Yankees and Mets, the Yankees headed to Tampa Bay to face the Rays in which they were swept from all 3 games. The Mets lost the final 2 games of the season to Cincinnati, but avoided a sweep and ended the season with a win, leaving a positive note for next season as the Mets didn't make it to the postseason. Despite the Yankees losing the series against Tampa Bay, it wasn't considered to be a big deal for the Yankees since they won the AL East and didn't use any of their starters. However, it was an important one for the Wild Card as Boston lost their final game of the season and the Rays took lead of the Wild Card and became winners of the AL Wild Card.

Now that the regular season is over, it's time for the postseason. The ALDS and NLDS will occur until there are 2 winners from each league. Here are the match-ups involved:
  • AL Central Champion Detroit Tigers vs AL East Champion New York Yankees
  • AL Wild Card Winner Tampa Bay Rays vs AL West Champion Texas Rangers
  • NL Wild Card Winner St. Louis Cardinals vs NL East Champion Philadelphia Phillies
  • NL West Champion Arizona Diamondbacks vs NL Central Champion Milwaukee Brewers
As of now, the Rays/Rangers game is currently in-progress. The Yankees will host the Tigers tonight in what should be a best 3 out of 5. If one of these teams wins 3 of the games, the 4th and 5th game won't be necessary. Same goes for the other games as well. The NLDS will occur tomorrow. I will give the results on Monday for each of the Division Series match-ups.

NFL
This weekend, the New York Giants will be heading to the University of Phoenix Stadium, where they won their recent Super Bowl, to face the Arizona Cardinals in a late game that is scheduled to air on FOX. The New York Jets will head to Baltimore to face the Ravens in a primetime game on NBC Sunday Night Football. I will give my thoughts on Monday about these 2 games.

College Football
This weekend on College Football, the Oklahoma Sooners will face the Ball State Cardinals in an evening game that will air on PPV. This game scheduled on PPV will be available nationally on DirecTV, Dish Network, and AT&T U-Verse, while it will be on select cable systems in the Oklahoma/Texas area. Rutgers will face Syracuse at the Carrier Dome that will streamed on ESPN 3 in select areas, Notre Dame will face Purdue in a primetime game scheduled to air on ESPN. Last but not least, Kean Cougars will host TCNJ tonight and will be streamed on Kean Athletics website.

WWE
This past Monday on Raw was the final Raw before Hell in a Cell and the storyline continues on Triple H losing control of the WWE. This time, it escalates when several disgruntled wrestlers are forming an alliance with David Otunga as their attorney (Otunga was a Harvard Law graduate). Also, Jerry Lawler was not present on Raw due to him selling the effects of him being attacked by Mark Henry. Booker T filled in for him that week. Believe it or not, I think the commentary team of Jim Ross, Booker T, and Michael Cole is much better than the usual team of Ross, Lawler, and Cole (and definitely better than the SmackDown announce team). The one thing that made me laugh was when Ross told Booker T to "testify!", implying that Booker was preaching to the choir.

ROH
Last weekend, Ring of Honor Wrestling returned to television after half a year absence. Although, I watched in online on ROH Wrestling's website since ROH isn't available in my area yet. I thought the inaugural episode was pretty entertaining and ROH has certainly learned from their mistakes in the HDNet era. The 1st episode was mainly about the tag team matches where Future Shock (Adam Cole & Kyle O'Reilly) faced the Bravado Brothers (Lance and Harlem) in a winning effort. Also, there was a tag team match between ROH Tag Team Champions Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin faced the Kings of Wrestling Chris Hero and Claudio Castiagnoli in a winning effort. This was also the last time that the Kings of Wrestling would be a team as most recently Castiagnoli signed a developmental contract with the WWE, and now goes by the name Antonio Cesaro. Here's a preview of the next episode:

MMA
This Saturday is MMA Saturday Night Fights as Bellator will have an event this Saturday night scheduled to air on MTV 2, while the UFC will host an event on Versus. I will give the results on Monday.

Have a good weekend everyone!

9/28/2011- Mid Week Blog

Writer's Note: This was originally supposed to be published on Monday, but due to getting caught up on other assignments this was delayed. Bear with me if anything is out of date.

What's up everyone! I have some good, bad, and worse news for New York fans that occurred this past weekend. The good news is that the Yankees def. Red Sox 2 out of 3 at home, the Mets def. Phillies 2 out of 3, and for the first time since 2008, the Giants defeated the Eagles. The bad news is that the Jets fell short of 10 points of a victory to Oakland, and the Yankees blew it (as usual) in the extra innings last night against the Red Sox. Worse news is that the Jets will be facing Baltimore and New England, respectively in the next 2 weeks so attaining a victory is slim to none. Here's all the info on what happened this weekend.

MLB
The New York Yankees were scheduled to have a 3-game series against the Red Sox at home this weekend, but Friday was heavy rain, so that game was moved to a doubleheader on Sunday. The Saturday and the early Sunday game the Yankees dominated the Red Sox and showed a lot of strength. However, in the late game, Red Sox were catching up and the game was tied after regulation. I don't know why, but the Yankees always blow it when it comes to extra innings. At least one good thing is that the Yankees are going to postseason and will be gaining home field advantage.Meanwhile for the New York Mets, they also had their Friday game rescheduled. Unlike the Yankees, the Mets had their doubleheader on Saturday. The Mets swept the doubleheader, but the Phillies averted a Mets sweep on Sunday.

The Yankees went to Tampa Bay to face the Rays and lost the 1st 2 games. The Mets have hosted Cincinnati to a 2 game loss as well. I will give more info on Friday.
NFL
This past Sunday was a day of upset victories as the Giants defeated the heavily favored Eagles for the 1st time since 2008. I didn't see the whole game, but it was a tremendous victory by the New York Giants. Here are the highlights:

Later that day, the Jets faced the Oakland Raiders in the West Coast. Although the Jets looked favorable to win, the Raiders pulled off an upset victory in the end. Does this appear to be karma? If you noticed, 2 years ago the Jets shut out the Raiders, and back in August during baseball season, the Yankees defeated the Oakland Athletics in double digits by 3 grand slams. I had a feeling that Oakland wanted revenge for that shut out loss and the 3 grand slams created by the Yankees. Here are the highlights from that game:

All I can say is this. Giants, you proved me wrong and got a victory against the Eagles (something which I never expected). Jets, this was a disappointment. Jets got to step it up in the next 2 weeks because their opponents are very tough and they are entering enemy turf.

College Football
This past Saturday on College Football, Rutgers attained a victory against Ohio 38-26, Notre Dame achieved a victory against Pittsburgh 15-12, Oklahoma Sooners extended their winning streak 38-28, and last but not least, Kean Cougars extended their winning streak against Western Connecticut 44-33.

Strikeforce
This past Friday was a Strikeforce Challengers event that took place in Las Vegas and aired on Showtime. Here are the results:
  • Brian Melancon def Felipe Portela via unanimous decision
  • Jason High def Todd Moore via unanimous decision
  • Ryan Couture def Maka Watson via majority decision
  • Shawn Jordan def Lavar Johnson via submission at Round 2
  • Lorenz Larkin def Nick Rossborough via unanimous decision
UFC
UFC had a PPV called UFC 135 that took place on Saturday night in Denver, Colorado. Overall, there were 10 fights on the card. 3 were streamed on Facebook, 2 were aired on Spike, while the rest aired on PPV. Here are the results:
Facebook
  • James Te Huna def Ricardo Romero via KO at 0:47 of Round 1*
  • Takeya Mizugaki def Cole Escovedo via TKO at Round 2**
  • Junior Assuncao def Eddie Yagin via unanimous decision
Spike
  • Tim Boetsch def Nick Ring via unanimous decision
  • Tony Ferguson def Aaron Riley via doctor stoppage after Round 1
PPV
  • Nate Diaz def Takanori Gomi via submission of Round 1
  • Travis Browne def Rob Broughton via unanimous decision
  • Mark Hunt def Ben Rothwell via unanimous decision
  • Josh Koscheck def Matt Hughes via KO at Round 1
  • Jon Jones def Quinton Jackson via submission at Round 4 to retain the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship
Bellator
Bellator Fighting Championships had an event on that night as well, but unlike the UFC it was on MTV 2. Here are the results of the main card:
  • Ed West def Luis Nogueira via unanimous decision
  • Marcos Galvaio def Chase Beebe via split decision
  • Eduardo Dantas def Wilson Reis via KO at Round 2
  • Alexis Vila def Joe Warren via KO at Round 1
Here are the highlights:

WWE/ROH
I won't be giving any updates on professional wrestling on this blog but I will on Friday. I will give the results of WWE Raw and my reaction to Ring of Honor Wrestling 1st episode under the ownership of Sinclair Broadcast Group

See ya later!

9/23/2011- Yankees Win AL East!, NY Giants pick up 1st victory in the 2011 NFL Season, review of WWE Raw, ROH makes it's return to Television, MMA Saturday Night Fights, more

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a great week as a lot has occurred over the past few days. Here we go...

MLB
After a make up game victory over the Minnesota Twins that had Mariano Rivera breaking the record for saves, the Yankees hosted Tampa Bay Rays in a 4 game series. Tuesday saw the Yankees shut out the Rays in a 5-0 victory, while Wednesday turned out to be a doubleheader. The doubleheader had the same score of a 4-2 victory, but it was the most important day since the day game saw Yankees getting a postseason berth while the night game had the Yankees win the AL East.

Although the Rays avoided a sweep by defeating the Yankees last night, it wasn't considered to be a big deal. Meanwhile for the Mets, they have lost to St Louis in the 1st two games but avoided a St Louis sweep as the Mets defeated them last night.

This weekend is a HUGE weekend for New York City baseball as the Yankees will host the Boston Red Sox in their final meeting in the regular season of this year. The Mets will return home to host the Philadelphia Phillies in their final meeting of this year.

NFL
This past Monday, the Giants had their first home game of the season hosting the St. Louis Rams. The Giants may have picked up their 1st victory, but it wasn't without controversy as some of the players from the Giants side faked injuries to confuse the Rams. Here are the highlights:

This Sunday, the Giants will be heading to Philadelphia to face their division rival the Eagles in a 1:00 game on FOX, while the Jets will be heading to the West Coast to face the Oakland Raiders in a 4:15 game on CBS. My suggestion is for Giants fans is to skip that game this Sunday since this rivalry has become 1 sided and the Giants haven't been able to defeat the Eagles since 2008. If I'm proven wrong, then I will say something on Monday.

WWE
This past Monday on Raw continued the storyline of how Triple H is losing control as WWE COO. This was just an average Raw, with the exceptions of Hugh Jackman guest starring on Raw and being in the corner of Zack Ryder in his match against Dolph Ziggler in which Jackman sneaked in a punch to Ziggler's jaw. Another highlight of the episode was where Jim Ross interviewed the new World Champion Mark Henry in which he attempted to harm JR. Jerry Lawler would come to JR's rescue and sacrificed himself to protect JR in which he was slammed through a table and was legitimately injured, according to Jim Ross' Twitter account. Jim Ross also mentioned that Lawler may not appear on Raw next week due to him being "hurt for real". At the end of the episode, Triple H "fired" The Miz & R-Truth after their match against John Cena and CM Punk. The Awesome Truth refused to leave quietly in which Triple H had to get security to escort Miz and Truth out of the building. Here's a preview of next week's Raw:

ROH
After nearly 6 months, Ring of Honor Wrestling returns to television this Saturday. Here's a sneak peek of what's in store:

Also, here's a video for those who aren't familiar with ROH to acknowledge what's in store for the viewers:

Go to http://www.rohwrestling.com/news/looking-for-ring-of-honor-on-sbg-networks/ to find out where you can watch ROH Wrestling in your area. If ROH Wrestling isn't in your market, ROH will provide the episodes FREE on their website on ROHWrestling.com

MMA
This weekend is MMA Saturday Night Fights. Tonight, Strikeforce will have Strikeforce Challengers 19 and will air on Showtime. Tomorrow, UFC will host a PPV called UFC 135: Jones vs Rampage, and last but not least Bellator will have an event this Saturday as well.

College Football
This weekend on College Football, Oklahoma Sooners will host Missouri in a primetime game on FX. Notre Dame will head to Pittsburgh in a afternoon game airing on ABC, while Rutgers will host Ohio in a 2PM game streaming on ESPN 3 (which I accidentally said it last week). Last but not least, Kean University will head out of state to face Western Connecticut in an afternoon game that will not be streamed.

That is all I have to say for now. Have a good weekend!

9/19/2011-Mariano Rivera breaks record for most saves, Bellator 50 results, UFC Fight Night results, NY Jets def. Jaguars, Mets def. Braves 2 out of 3, Blue Jays def. Yankees 2 out of 3, WWE Night of Champions results, more

WWE
Before the Night of Champions PPV, SmackDown emanated from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. As I mentioned before, Edge was the special guest of the show and hosted the Cutting Edge with Randy Orton and Mark Henry as guests. The highlights of that edition of SmackDown was Edge's appearance, Ted DiBiase's face turn, a cameo from Trish Stratus (also a Toronto native), and last but not least the return of the original Sin Cara. For those who don't know, the character Sin Cara did return before SummerSlam but the person portraying the character was a different person who goes by the name Hunico in FCW. The original Sin Cara (formerly Mistico) confronted his impostor. Stay tuned to find out what will happen with "Dos Sin Caras".

That was SmackDown. Last night was the Night of Champions PPV where shocking things have occurred. Here are the results for Night of Champions:
  • Air Boom (Evan Bourne & Kofi Kingston) def. Awesome Truth (The Miz & R-Truth) via DQ to retain the WWE Tag Team Championship
  • Cody Rhodes def. Ted DiBiase to retain the Intercontinental Championship
  • Dolph Ziggler def. John Morrison, Jack Swagger, and Alex Riley in a Fatal 4 Way match to retain the United States Championship
  • Mark Henry def. Randy Orton to become the NEW World Heavyweight Champion
  • Kelly Kelly def. Beth Phoenix to retain the Divas Championship
  • John Cena def. Alberto Del Rio to become the NEW WWE Champion
  • Triple H def. CM Punk to retain his position as WWE COO
Although I didn't see the PPV, I heard that Michael Cole lost his voice near the main event and Jerry Lawler and Booker T had to cover for him.

Tonight on Monday Night Raw, Hugh Jackman will be making a guest appearance to promote his movie "Real Steel".

ROH
ROH Death by Dishonor IX is now in the books and here are the results:
  • Rhino & Tommaso Ciampa def. Jay Lethal & Homicide
  • Shelton Benjamin def. Mike Bennett
  • The Young Bucks def. Future Shock and Bravado Brothers in a 3 way elimination tag team match
  • El Generico vs Jimmy Jacobs went to a No Contest
  • Charlie Haas def. Michael Elgin
  • Eddie Edwards def. Roderick Strong
  • All Night Express def. Briscoes
Bellator
Bellator 50 took place last Saturday in Hollywood, FL and here are the results:
  • Vitor Vianna def. Sam Alvey via split decision
  • Alexander Shlemenko def. Zelg Galesic via submission at Round 1
  • Brian Rogers def. Victor O'Donnell via TKO at Round 1
  • Bryan Baker def. Jared Hess via TKO at Round 3
Overall, it was a good card. The best fight in my opinion, was between Baker and Hess since it had a lot of emotion and story depth into the match. Here are the highlights:

UFC
Bellator wasn't the only MMA organization to have an event last Saturday night as UFC also had their Fight Night on Spike TV later that night. Here are the results from UFC Fight Night:
  • Alan Belcher def. Jason MacDonald via submission at Round 1
  • Erik Koch def. Jonathan Brookins via unanimous decision
  • Court McGee def. Dongi Yang via unanimous decision
  • Jake Ellenberger def. Jake Shields via TKO at Round 1
MLB
After their trip to the West Coast, the Yankees went to Toronto to face the Blue Jays in a losing effort as they lost the series 2 out of 3. Once the Yankees returned home, they played a make up game between the Minnesota Twins which led to not only a victory but it led to Yankees closing pitcher Mariano Rivera to break the record for all time saves. Meanwhile for the Mets, after a long losing streak, things turned around as they defeated the Braves 2 out of 3.

The Yankees will face the Tampa Bay Rays in a 4 game series (2 of which are make up games and the Wednesday game is expected to be a doubleheader). For the Mets, they will head to St. Louis to face the Cardinals this week.

College Football
In College Football, the Oklahoma Sooners went to Florida to face the Seminoles in a 23-13 victory. Notre Dame achieved their first victory against Michigan State 31-13, and Kean Cougars had a 2nd victory against SUNY Cortland 21-16.

Also, I apologize for an error I made on Friday when I said that Rutgers will be playing that weekend. It's actually this coming weekend.

NFL
After a tough 1st week for the Jets, the Gang Green team had smooth sailing as they defeated Jacksonville Jaguars 32-3. Here are the highlights:

The New York Giants will be hosting the St. Louis Rams tonight on Monday Night Football so I will give the results on Friday.

That is all I have to say for now! Have a good week!
