9/16/2011- review of WWE Raw, Yankees def. Mariners 2 out of 3, Nationals swept Mets, ROH Death before Dishonor IX preview, MMA Saturday Night Fights, more

Hey guys. I hope you all had a great week. Here is what happened this week & what's in store for this weekend.

WWE
This past Monday on Raw, it was the last Raw before the Night of Champions PPV. WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart made a guest appearance to confront the current WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio. Also, Hart got involved in a match somewhat as it was a tag-team match that consisted of John Cena & Bret Hart vs Alberto Del Rio & Ricardo Rodriguez. Another thing that occurred was the final confrontation between Triple H & CM Punk before their match at Night of Champions.

On WWE SmackDown, Edge will make a guest appearance in his hometown of Toronto. I will share what happened on the SmackDown in Toronto as well as the results of the Night of Champions PPV.

MLB
After a rough weekend in Anaheim, the Yankees headed to Safeco Field (the location of WrestleMania 19 in 2003) to face the Seattle Mariners. Although they got their 1st 2 victories and Mariano Rivera got the record of 600 saves, the Bombers lost on their last day in the West Coast. Meanwhile, after the Mets lost to the Cubs 2 out of 3, it all went downhill as the Yankees lost to the Washington Nationals 4 straight games.

The Yankees will face the Toronto Blue Jays this weekend at Rogers Centre, while the Mets will face the Atlanta Braves at Turner Field.

ROH
This Saturday, ROH Wrestling will have an internet PPV once again called Death by Dishonor IX. It will emanate from Manhattan Center in New York, NY. Although tickets are sold out, you can still watch the iPPV through the website: http://www.gfl.tv/. The matches advertised for the iPPV are:
  • El Generico vs Jimmy Jacobs
  • The Young Bucks (formerly Generation Me) vs Future Shock (Adam Cole & Kyle O'Reilly) vs Bravados (Lance & Harlem) in a 3-way elimination match
  • Jay Lethal & Homicide vs Tommaso Ciampa & Rhino in a "Grudge" Tag Team Match
  • Shelton Benjamin vs "The Prodigy" Mike Bennett in a "Special Challenge Match" #1
  • Charlie Haas vs Michal Elgin in a "Special Challenge Match #2
  • Eddie Edwards vs Roderick Strong in a "Ringmaster Challenge"
For the Ringmaster Challenge, it's a 2 out of 3 falls match. The 1st fall is pinfall, 2nd is submission, & if a 3rd fall is necessary, it will be a 15 minute Iron Man match.
  • Briscoes (Jay & Mark) vs All Night Express (Kenny King & Rhett Titus) in a Ladder War III match. A contract for a tag team title shot at Glory By Honor X will hang above the ring
ROH Wrestling posted up a video wire to promote the event:

NFL
This weekend, the New York Jets will host the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday afternoon at 1 PM & the game will be televised on CBS. The following night, the New York Giants will host the St. Louis Rams on ESPN Monday Night Football.

College Football
This weekend in College Football, the Oklahoma Sooners will face Florida State in a primetime game on ABC, and Notre Dame will face Michigan State in an afternoon game on NBC. While those two games are televised, this college game will not be televised Kean will head to upstate New York to face SUNY Cortland in an afternoon game being streamed on Kean Athletics website.

MMA
This weekend is what I consider Saturday Night Fights as two major MMA events will take place. First, Bellator 50 will air at a special start time at 7PM ET on MTV 2. Later that night, UFC will host a UFC Fight Night with the main event being Jake Shields vs Jake Ellenberger. I will give the results on Monday for both Bellator 50 and UFC Fight Night: Shields vs Ellenberger.

That is all I have to say for now. Have a good weekend!
