10/7/2011- MLB Postseason, review of WWE Raw, review of 10/1/2011 ROH Wrestling, MMA Saturday Night Fights, more

Hello everyone. As you may know, New York baseball has come to an end as the Yankees lost the ALDS. Thank god its still football season, and of course professional wrestling and mixed martial arts has no off season so I can still have something to be happy about. However, I will still cover MLB Postseason on the blog, but won't be emotionally invested until the 2012 MLB Season. Here we go.

MLB
After a rough game on Monday night where the Yankees were facing elimination on Tuesday, AJ Burnett turned things around when he pitched a really good game in which the Yankees won 10-1 against Detroit at Comerica Park. This would force a Game 5 to occur last night at Yankee Stadium. Despite a home field advantage, everything went downhill for the Bombers as a lot of hitters had a bad day and Ivan Nova started despite being hurt and gave up 2 home runs. The only highlight was Robinson Cano hitting a home run to avoid a shut out. Final score was 3-2 Detroit and the Tigers will face the Texas Rangers in the 2011 ALCS.

I will give information about the NLCS on Monday since... wait a minute. I just found out from ESPN Radio that the Milwaukee Brewers won the NLDS defeating the Diamondbacks in the bottom of the 10th inning at Miller Park!!! Okay then, Brewers will face the winner of Phillies/Cardinals, which is still in progress.

NFL
This Sunday, the New York Giants will host the Seattle Seahawks in a 1 PM game on FOX, while the New York Jets will head to Boston to face the New England Patriots in a 4:15 PM game on CBS. For the Giants game, Thom Brennerman will be filling in for Joe Buck since Buck will be covering the ALCS.

College Football
This weekend, the Oklahoma Sooners will face their fiercest rival Texas Longhorns at the Cotton Bowl in what is dubbed as the "Cotton Bowl Classic". Notre Dame will host Air Force in a mid-afternoon game, Rutgers will host Pittsburgh in that same time slot as Notre Dame, and Kean University will host Buffalo State College. Unlike the latter 3, Oklahoma-Texas will be in a neutral zone.

MMA
This Saturday is MMA Saturday Night Fights as UFC will host a PPV called UFC 136 in which two titles are on the line. Jose Aldo will defend his Featherweight Championship against Kenny Florian and Frankie Edgar will defend his Lightweight Championship against Gray Maynard. Another event that will compete against UFC 136 is Bellator 53 in which the main event is the Featherweight Tournament Semifinals.

WWE
This past Monday on Raw, the storyline of WWE COO Triple H losing control of Raw has now escalated to the point of where a majority of WWE employees have voted no-confidence and that Triple H is not fit to run the WWE. One moment was when Jerry Lawler walked out on Triple H, following the WWE employees that were present, Michael Cole, Booker T, RAW ring announcer Justin Roberts, and eventually Jim Ross. The only support Triple H has is the WWE Universe. Here is the highlight of that segment:

Keep in mind, the wrestlers that were absent were John Cena, CM Punk, Randy Orton, Sheamus, Eve Torres, Kelly Kelly, Justin Gabriel, and the rest who were already inactive due to injury. The notable ones would most likely be considered the sympathizers to Triple H.

ROH
Ring of Honor Wrestling never disappoints as the second week of ROH TV aired on Saturday in select markets, and the main event was El Generico vs Jay Lethal for the ROH TV Title. The opening match was really good between Mike Bennett and Jimmy Jacobs and the original outcome of the main event was a time limit draw. However, Jim Cornette order 3 more minutes to declare an actual winner in which Lethal pinned Generico to win the ROH World Television Championship. Here's a preview of the next episode:

That's all I have to say for now. Have a good weekend!
