Without social media, I wouldn't have gotten noticed at all.

This is my way of saying thank you to my readers who are reading this from anywhere in the world where there is an internet connection and a device such as a computer, tablet, or mobile phone.

6/28/2012- Yankees sweep Cleveland, Cubs def Mets 2 out of 3, review of WWE Raw, more

Hello everyone! I hope all of you are enjoying your week thus far. It's very rare that I blog on Thursdays, but for all the readers, you can consider this a Friday edition of the NYCKNP Blog. I will also treat this like a Friday blog, since to me it feels like Friday, instead of Thursday. Here we go!

MLB
After the Yankees and Mets faced each other last weekend during the Subway Series, in which the Yankees won 2 out of 3, it was time to return to normal as the two leagues won't play against each other until the All Star Game and the World Series. The Yankees returned home on Monday to host the Cleveland Indians where they swept them in a bittersweet fashion. It's bittersweet since the Yankees swept Cleveland, but with a hefty price in losing CC Sabathia and Andy Pettite to the DL yesterday.

Meanwhile, the Mets went to Wrigley Field to face the Chicago Cubs in which they fell short in the 1st 2 games, but avoided a sweep big time yesterday. The series was controversial as well, since Ike Davis was ejected on Tuesday for arguing with the 1st base umpire after the umpire made a botched call.

Tonight, the Yankees will host the Chicago White Sox in a 4 game set, which will also include Old Timer's Day, hours before the final game of the series on Sunday. The Mets will continue their road trip and face the Los Angeles Dodgers in a 4 game set.

WWE
This past Monday on Raw was just your average ordinary Raw, with an out of the ordinary opening. If you all noticed this past Monday, when Raw was opening up, a local advertisement interrupted the program. WWE took notice of this, and issued an apology, claiming that USA Network's "Master Control" caused the error in the opening. WWE would give the intro of Raw, uninterrupted in a seperate video: http://youtu.be/ilYcBxMTnkw

Overall, it was an okay Raw. The highlights of Raw were Chris Jericho's return, Sycho Sid's guest appearance, and... well that's pretty much it for the most part.

Next Tuesday, The Great American Bash will return as a live SmackDown special:

It was announced earlier in the week that WWE and Ion Television are teaming up to bring a new program for their network called "The Main Event". The show will debut in October, and will feature superstars from Raw and SmackDown. More details will be shared as the time comes.

Impact Wrestling
Here's a preview of tonight's Impact Wrestling on Spike:

6/22/2012- Braves def Yankees 2 out of 3, Mets sweep Orioles, preview of Subway Series, more

Hello everyone! I hope all of you had a great week this week. As you may know, the second half of the Subway Series is underway. Here's a preview of what to expect this weekend, as well as what happened during the week and what to see this weekend. Here we go!

MLB
The Yankees headed home after a sweep against the Braves at Turner Field, and the Nationals. The Yankees expected to continue their winning streak, but it all came to an end on Tuesday. The Wednesday matinee game was an insult to injury as the Braves defeated them 10-5 and won the series. Meanwhile for the Mets, they swept the Baltimore Orioles with 2 shutouts the 1st 2 games, and a 4-3 win that almost became a loss for them.

Now, the second half of the Subway Series is underway as the Yankees travel to Flushing to face the Mets this weekend. All games will be on primetime television, as tonight's game will be on WWOR (Yankees), WPIX (Mets), and MLB Network for those living outside the New York Metropolitan Area. Saturday's game will broadcast on FOX, while Sunday's game was flexed to ESPN Sunday Night Baseball. The reason why Sunday's game was flexed due to both teams doing well so far this season.

Here's a preview of this weekend's Subway Series:

WWE
This past Monday on Raw was considered the end of "People Power" as John Laurinaitis was removed as General Manager of both Raw and SmackDown. However, John Laurinaitis did have one final match on Raw in a 3 on 1 handicap match alongside The Big Show, David Otunga against John Cena. Let's say things didn't go too well for him.

Here are the other highlights from this past Monday on Raw:

MMA
This weekend is a big weekend for the MMA world, because the Bellator Summer Series makes it's return. Also, not only there are one, but two UFC events this weekend. Tonight will be UFC on FX, while tomorrow night is UFC 147. Here's a preview of what to expect this weekend:

That's all I have to say for now. Have a great weekend!

6/18/2012- WWE No Way Out results, Yankees sweep Nationals, Reds sweep Mets, more

Hello everyone! I hope all of you had a great weekend! This weekend was eventful as the Yankees continued their hot streak in the Nation's capital, a certain someone was fired at No Way Out, and the Super Bowl MVP threw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Mets game yesterday. More will be shared as you read along. Here we go!

WWE
Yesterday was the No Way Out PPV, where it emanated from the Izod Center in East Rutherford, NJ. Overall there were 10 matches on the card, including the pre-show streamed on the Internet. Here are the results:

WWE.com/Facebook/YouTube
  • Brodus Clay def David Otunga
PPV
  • Sheamus def Dolph Ziggler* to retain the World Heavyweight Championship
  • Santino Marella def Ricardo Rodriguez in a tuxedo match
  • Christian def Cody Rhodes to retain the Intercontinental Championship
  • Prime Time Players (Titus O'Neil & Darren Young) def Primo & Epico, The Usos, Tyson Kidd & Justin Gabriel in a fatal-4-way tag team match to determine the number 1 contendership for the WWE Tag Team Championship
  • Layla def Beth Phoenix to retain the Divas Championship
  • Sin Cara def Hunico
  • CM Punk def Kane and Daniel Bryan in a triple threat match to retain the WWE Championship
  • Ryback def two local competitors
  • John Cena def The Big Show in a Steel Cage Match. Had John Cena lost, he would've been fired, and had the Big Show lost, John Laurinaitis would've be fired. Since Cena won, Mr. McMahon fired Laurinaitis after the PPV.
*- originally Alberto Del Rio was scheduled to face Sheamus, but due to his concussion, he was replaced by Dolph Ziggler.

Tonight, Raw will emanate from Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, NY. 80s icon Cyndi Lauper is advertised to guest star, and John Laurinaitis is scheduled to make a farewell address.

MLB
This weekend, the Yankees continued interleague play against the Washington Nationals in Nationals Park. The Yankees swept the Nationals, including a Saturday game where they won in Extra Innings and without a home run. Meanwhile for the Mets, they took a break from interleague play, where they fell to the Cincinnati Reds in 3 games. One notable game was yesterday when Super Bowl MVP and NY Giants quarterback Eli Manning threw out the ceremonial first pitch at Citi Field.

This week, the Mets will resume interleague play, and in a rare move, both the Yankees and the Mets will have home games this week from Monday through Wednesday. The Yankees will host the Atlanta Braves in a rematch from last week, while the Mets will host the Baltimore Orioles. Also, the second half of the Crosstown Cup will take place between the White Sox and the Cubs.

That's all I have to say for now. Have a good week!

6/15/2012- Yankees sweep Braves, Mets sweep Rays, review of WWE Raw, more

Hello everyone! I hope all of you had a great week! After the Subway Series, I can say that things got a lot better for New York baseball. I'll share more about this week as you read along. Here we go!

MLB

After the Yankees and Mets faced each other last weekend, the Yankees traveled down to the A-T-L to face the Atlanta Braves in an inter league 3 game matchup. Monday's game was a shutout, the following night was a come from behind victory, while Wednesday sealed the deal. For the Mets facing the Rays at Tampa Bay, Tuesday's game was a blow out, Wednesday was an almost-perfect game for R.A. Dickey (Mets attempted to appeal, but was unsuccessful), and Thursday was just a lucky day for them.

The Mets will take a break from inter league play this weekend and will host the Cincinnati Reds, while the Yankees will face the Washington Nationals at the D.C Metro Area this weekend. The matchup between the Yankees and Nationals is an interesting one in my opinion, since both teams are currently on a hot streak.

WWE

This past Monday on Raw was the go-home show where Mr. McMahon visited to give Johnny Ace a performance evaluation. The rest of Raw focused on hyping the No Way Out PPV. The one thing that stood out was when AJ kissed Kane in the lips during a tag team match that featured her & CM Punk vs Daniel Bryan & Kane. I thought it was cool that AJ was treated as one of the guys for the night. At the end of the night, Mr. McMahon announced he will appear at No Way Out to make his final decision after the Steel Cage Match between John Cena and The Big Show.

(I'm using an iPad for this blog so forgive me if there aren't any videos)

That's all I have to say for now. Have a good weekend!

6/11/2012- Yankees sweep Mets, UFC on FX: Johnson vs McCall results, preview of WWE Raw

Hello everyone! I hope all of you had a great weekend! This past weekend was interleague play in the MLB, where the most notable game was the Subway Series. All I can say is for the Subway Series is that if you are a Mets fan, this was probably the worst weekend, but for the Yankees fans, it was a good weekend. More will be shared as you read along. Here we go!

MLB
Last weekend was the Subway Series where the Mets traveled to the Bronx to face the Yankees. Usually these series are all about bragging rights, but the stakes were much higher considering that both of these teams are vying for the top spot in their respective divisions. On Friday, the Yankees blew out the Mets, but on Saturday and Sunday, the Yankees came from behind to win these games. One of the moments from this weekend was Russell Martin rallying the Yankees towards a walk-off home run victory in the bottom of the 9th inning after Rafael Soriano blew the save at the top of the 9th.

Here's a link of the video: http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_id=22188683&topic_id=&c_id=mlb&tcid=vpp_copy_22188683&v=3

Now that the first half of the Subway Series is over, it's time for a "You scratch my back, I'll scratch yours" moment for both the Mets and Yankees since the Yankees will face the Atlanta Braves (Mets division rival) this week, while the Mets will head to Tampa Bay to face the Rays (Yankees division rival) starting tomorrow.

UFC
Last Friday was UFC on FX 3, where the main event was between Demetrious Johnson and Ian McCall. Here are the results from the main card:
  • Eddie Wineland def Scott Jorgensen via KO at Round 2
  • Mike Pyle def Josh Neer via KO at Round 1
  • Erick Silva def Charlie Brennerman via submission at Round 1
  • Demetrious Johnson def Ian McCall via unanimous decision
WWE
Tonight is a 3-hour Monday Night Raw, where the WWE Chairman Vince McMahon will be giving John Laurinaitis a job evaluation.

Also, as of 4:39 PM today while writing this blog, I received a text message from WWE Alerts regarding the World Heavyweight Championship match. Here is what the text message said:

"BREAKING NEWS: Due to a concussion on SmackDown, Del Rio won't face World Champion Sheamus @ No Way Out. New #1 contender to be named on tonight's Raw (8/7 CT)".

That's all I have to say for now. Have a nice week!

6/8/2012- Yankees def Rays 2 out of 3, Nationals def Mets 2 out of 3, Interleague Play, more

Hello everyone! I hope all of you had a great week! I was absent for a couple of days since I was out of town on an Eastern Caribbean cruise for 8 days, and came back yesterday. The places I went to were Turks & Caicos, and The Bahamas. I had a nice time, but it was time to return home. Here are the things I missed while I was gone.

What I missed while I was Away
  • Randy Orton suspended for 60 days
  • Impact Wrestling going live on Thursdays at 8 PM
  • Johan Santana's perfect game
  • The Ultimate Fighter Season Finale
  • Last Friday's SmackDown and this past Monday's Raw
  • and much more...
I won't be talking about the WWE in this blog since I still have to watch what I missed in the DVRed shows. However, this blog will be mostly about baseball and the hype for UFC on FX 3. Here we go!

MLB
The Yankees returned home after a 9 game road trip, in which they hosted the Tampa Bay Rays and won 2 games out of the 3 game series. The Bombers were hoping for a sweep, but it was not to be. Meanwhile, the Mets traveled to the DC area to face the Washington Nationals. The Mets struggled in the 1st 2 games, but R.A. Dickey rallied the team to avoid a sweep yesterday.

This weekend starts interleague play, and that means that the Subway Series will be played this weekend. The Mets will travel to the Bronx to face the Yankees. Other games to be played during interleague this weekend are the Citrus Series, and two notable World Series rematches between the Texas Rangers/San Francisco Giants, and the White Sox/Astros. The series between the South Siders and the 'Stros is an interesting World Series rematch considering that the Astros are in their final year in the NL Central, and will move to the AL West in 2013, therefore future matchups will be intraleague.

UFC
Tonight, UFC on FX 3 will emanate from the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida and will air on FX. The main event will be Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson vs Ian McCall

That's all I have to say for now. Have a good weekend!
